1. Who is authorized to login to RIOT?

To log in to the RIOT website, you must meet BOTH criteria:

• An official affiliate of the University of Colorado at Boulder with an entry in the campus enterprise directory and a valid IdentiKey
• A current instructor or a currently-enrolled student in one of the follow courses: WRTG 1150, WRTG 1250, WRTG 1100, ARSC 3100

 2. I got this message: “You entered an incorrect IdentiKey username/password combination. Please try again” What shoud I do?

PROBLEM: Your IdentiKey username or password was not recognized by campus authentication.

SOLUTION:

Step 1: Go to the campus portal, CUconnect, and log in using your IdentiKey.

Step 2a: If you can login to the portal using the same username and password that you attempted to login to RIOT, contact pwrhelp@colorado.edu for assistance

Step 2b: If you can't login to the portal, then there is a problem with your identikey. Contact the ITS Help desk at 5-HELP or help@colorado.edu .

3. I got this message: “You have entered a valid identikey username and password. However you are not listed in our database as a PWR student or instructor.” What should I do?

PROBLEM: You are not listed in the RIOT database as a student or instructor for one of these courses: WRTG 1150, WRTG 1250, WRTG 1100, ARSC 3100.

4. I got this message: “Login failed. You have entered a valid identikey username, but there is a problem with your password.” What should I do?

Your identikey password was not recognized by campus authentication.

Contact the ITS Help desk at 5-HELP or help@colorado.edu .

5. I got an error message (none of the above) when trying to login. What should I do?

Contact pwrhelp@colorado.edu for assistance.

6. What is an identikey?

An IdentiKey account consists of your CU login name and a unique password that is usually different from your e-mail password. Visit the ITS identikey webpage for more information.

7. How do I know if I am in the campus enterprise directory?

The following individuals are most likely in the campus enterprise directory.

UCB Students that are . . .

• Actively enrolled in the current term
• Not actively enrolled in the current term, but will take classes in the upcoming term
• On time out
• Taking distance learning courses through Continuing Education
• Faculty or Staff with active appointments on the Boulder Campus or Central Campus who have a Boulder campus mailing address.

Individuals who have been “sponsored” by UCB staff or faculty for a finite period of time and have been added to the enterprise directory by ITS.

If you do not fit into one of these categories or have a loose affiliation with UCB, you may not be in the campus enterprise directory.

8. How do I report technical problems about RIOT?

Email pwrhelp@colorado.edu. Please include:

• A detailed description of the problem
• The browser version (ex. Internet Explorer 6.0)
• Your Location (ex. Off campus or Humanities Building Computer Lab)

If you received an error message, please send a screenshot of it in your email. (Press the “Print Screen” key on your keyboard. Open up a blank Word document. Paste (ctrl + P) the screenshot into the document and attach it to the email.)

9. Which browser should I be using to complete RIOT?

Browser requirements: IE 4.0 or higher, Netscape 7.0 or higher, Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher. If you download the latest Acrobat Reader, please make sure your browser does not still default to Acrobat 4.0 for PDF files.

10. Can I keep my pop up disabler software on?

Pop-up windows: The tutorial web pages include many pop-up windows. Please disable any pop-up window blocking software while you are working on the tutorial. Please close those pop-up windows after you finished browsing. If you have problem to opening a web page, make sure your browser only opens one window. Close all unused windows. 


11.What do I do if I can not access the linked articles in Module 2B and 3?

The articles provided in Module 2B and 3 are from the University Libraries subscription databases. To access the subscription databases from an off campus computer, you must set up "Off-Campus Access". If you have any questions about Off-Campus Access contact the ITS Help Line at (303) 735-HELP.
